Takoradi container terminal opens for business

Takoradi Container Terminal Limited (TACOTEL), the private off dock container terminal has commenced operations.

The facility which is about 6minutes drive from the port of Takoradi has an operational floor capacity of 8700m² with a storage capacity of 7,500 TEUs to handle container devanning operations.

With the commencement of operations at the terminal, the port of Takoradi can now boast of an additional capacity to handle more container traffic for both domestic and land locked markets of Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali.

The facility can boast of modern container handling equipment like fork lifts, reach stackers and a canteen to cater for port clients who throng the terminal to demand for services.

Terminal Manager for TACOTEL Limited, Richmond Agyei Appiah said the facility has offices for all state agencies needed for the smooth clearance of cargoes like Customs, Ghana Standards Authority, Food and Drugs Authority, Plant Quarantine, BNI, National Security, Police etc.

Peter Amoo-Bediako, Public Affairs & Marketing Manager of Takoradi Port said the coming into operation of TACOTEL will not only attract or increase traffic through the port but will make clearance through the port very easy.
