Tell us what is keeping the lights on – UG professor calls on Minister of Energy

Professor Lord Mensah Professor Lord Mensah

Professor Lord Mensah, a senior lecturer at the University of Ghana, has urged Ghanaians to seek answers regarding the recent restoration of power stability in the country.

Through a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Prof. Mensah expressed concerns about the potential hidden costs of maintaining a stable power supply, especially in the context of an election year.

In his tweet, Prof. Mensah stated, “The lights are on, but at what cost? Fellow Ghanaians, ask questions. Something is being given up for the light to stay on in an election year.

“The economic cost of keeping the light on may outweigh the benefits. The energy minister must tell us what is keeping the light on,” he quizzed.

The UG professor suggested that the current administration might be prioritizing political gains over economic sustainability.
