Over the past few years, economic challenges have compelled the Ghanaian youth to seek better opportunities abroad.

These professionals have either left or are planning to leave the country due to various factors driven by economic, professional, and social reasons.

Popular YouTuber, Wode Maya, recently met with a group of Ghanaian nurses at the airport. In a brief discussion with them, he asked about their destination and received a familiar response.

According to these young nurses, the current economic conditions, along with their inability to be assigned to health facilities, have prompted them to leave the country for the UK, where they believe better opportunities await them.

One of them stated, “We are moving to London forever and ever, Ghana has collapsed. The president has failed to assign us to any facilities after school. We have not been assigned for four years now.”

Wode Maya also asked how they managed to secure the opportunity to leave, and they all replied, “We did it ourselves.”

The YouTuber briefly shared his thoughts about the development, “I believe the government needs to take action because this is brain drain.”

In response, one of the nurses said, “I'm certain the healthcare system in Ghana is on the verge of collapse in the next five years.”
