Accra, Oct. 7, GNA - Thirteen companies on Wednesday donated items and cash of 160 million cedis to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) towards this year's Farmers' Day celebration. Agrimax Limited donated agro-chemicals; Latex Foam gave 10 mattresses; NODECO International donated two motorbikes; Produce Buying Company gave sprayers and Wellington boots and Calli Ghana Limited donated agro-chemicals.
Aglow Agric Products Limited donated a cheque for 30 million cedis and 50 pieces of watering cans worth 3.5 million cedis; Tropo Farms gave 50,000 juvenile fingerlings worth 40 million cedis; Ghana Oil Palm Development Company (GOPDC) donated 50 million cedis; Fan Milk Limited donated 25 million cedis and BOMART Farms Limited donated five million cedis and 3,000 plantlets of pineapples.
Pioneer Food Company donated 200 cartons of tuna, Cottage Italia Company Limited donated 10 million cedis and Continental Commodities Trading Company (CCTC) donated 40 million cedis.
Major Courage Quashigah (rtd), Minister for Food and Agriculture, said the Ministry was enticing many educated youths to go into farming. The old and experienced farmers should therefore to hold on while the youth take up from them.
