Tigo improves network quality

Following the upgrade of its microwave backbone between Accra and Takoradi, Tigo, a telecom operator, says its customers along the stretch would continue to enjoy a seamless connection every time there is a fibre cut.

The one million- dollar project connected through major towns such as Winneba and Mankessim would put an end to the disruption of service to customers.

Unveiling the project, the Chief Technology and Information Officer, Ron Reddick, said he was unhappy with the incessant fibre cuts, which had affected network quality.

“This upgrade will ensure that every time we have a fibre cut along the Accra-Takoradi stretch, customers will not be affected,” he said.

He said the upgrade would be migrated unto the microwave backbone and that the company has improved the capacity on the backbone to accommodate all customers and have also strengthen the terminals to improve on connection.
