Stakeholders in the telecommunications industry have been urged to help build a faster and safer interconnected society.

According to the National Communications Authority (NCA), the world is fast migrating to 5G and Ghana must put in measures for its operation.

Therefore, NCA is poised to be the driving force behind telecommunications to increase high speed coverage in Ghana.

Speaking to Class News after a workshop to sensitize on dealership licensing and equipment authorisation, the Principal Manager in-charge of the Legal Division of NCA, Robert Apaya, urged telecom industry professionals to adjust to a new era of interconnectivity in accordance with NCA protocols.

Meanwhile, Mr Apaya has also warned telecom operators to comply with NCA's guidelines on the erection of telecommunication masts especially at densely populated areas to avoid undesirable health effects.

5G simply stands for fifth generation and refers to the next and newest mobile wireless standard based on the IEEE 802.11ac standard of broadband technology which is an improvement of 4G currently operated by some telecommunication and Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
