"Total" company sponsors E/R GJA celebration

Koforidua, April 27, GNA - The management of Total Two Petrol filling station, in Koforidua, on Wednesday, donated an amount of GH¢400.00 and 20 crates of soft drinks to the Eastern Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA). The cash and items are for the organization of this year's World Press Freedom Day in Koforidua.

The World Press Freedom Day would be organized all over the world on May 3, but the Eastern Region would observe the day on May 10, this year, under the theme, 9321st Century Media, New Frontiers, New Barriers" Presenting the items, Mr Isaac Brewu, Manager of Koforidua Total one and three filling stations, who had been a major sponsor of the GJA in the Eastern Region said, his companies had benefited a lot from the good relationship it has with the media, hence the desire to sponsor their activities. He promised to continue supporting the programmes of the media in the region and advised media personnel to always cross-check their facts before publishing. The cheque was received by Ms Agnes Munyuhitum, treasurer of the Regional Branch of GJA and the Regional Chairman of the Association, Mr Edmund Quaynor. Mr Quaynor thanked the management of the company for their consistent support and sponsorship of activities of the association in the region. He observed that, over the years, the media had always benefited from the support of private businesses and called on the media in the country to support the promotion of private businesses. The regional chairman thanked the management of Koforidua Total Two and Three for sponsoring the World Press Freedom Day symposium. 27 April, 2011
