Total shares traded takes a nose-dive

Accra, Jan. 19, GNA - Total shares traded on the Accra bourse fell by about two-thirds on Monday but the main stock index, the All Share Index continued to rise.

Number of shares traded fell from 307,400 last Friday to 108,600 to open the week. Twelve equities traded shares on the market with Cocoa Processing Company selling the highest of 36,400. The lowest, 200 shares, were sold by Mechanical Lloyd Company. The All-Share Index rose by 10.59 points at 3,650.38 points from 3,639.79 points at the previous close on Friday.

Nine prices changes were recorded, all positive. Home Finance Company gained 90 cedis to close at 4,200 cedis, Fan Milk Limited rose by 50 cedis to close at 3,900 cedis and Ghana Commercial Bank went up by 41 cedis to close at 8,751 cedis. British American Tobacco, Cocoa Processing Company and Unilever made 10 cedis each at 5,610 cedis, 640 cedis and 14,110 cedis in that order. Mechanical Lloyd Company, Mobil Oil Ghana Limited and SCB went up one cedi each at 716 cedis, 35,006 cedis and 67,006 cedis, in that order.

The change for the year to date is 2.73 per cent. Market capitalisation now stands at 12,861.69 billion cedis from 12,834.93 billion cedis last Friday.
