The Ahafo Region will soon benefit from support from the Turkish government in areas such as agriculture, reforestation, capacity building, health, mechanized boreholes, education, and an investment and trade conference scheduled for May 2025.

The Ambassador of Turkey to Ghana, Huseyin Gungor, has assured that his government and its counterparts will collaborate with the Ahafo Region to support skills training and apprenticeship programs, including bakery, soap making, dressmaking, bead making, and more.

The Turkish ambassador also assured that his government would provide the Ahafo Region with investors to support the construction of a regional hospital and an ultra-modern regional medical school.

In the agricultural sector, the Turkish government has agreed to provide an investor to establish a cocoa processing plant in the region. The investor will also assist with reforestation efforts by planting trees in areas where forests once existed.

This initiative aims to restore previously destroyed or damaged forests and woodlands. Additionally, the Turkish government will support the provision of mechanized boreholes and potable drinking water.

The Turkish ambassador to Ghana stated that his government would organize an investment and trade conference for the region in Turkey in May 2025 to explore business opportunities for Ahafo entrepreneurs and business executives.

Huseyin Gungor made these commitments known when the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, and a delegation paid a courtesy call on him at the Turkish Embassy in Accra on Friday, March 14, 2025.

He further stated that the Ahafo Region has vast opportunities in mineral resources, agriculture, health, education, and tourism. Therefore, it is essential to explore these potentials.

Huseyin Gungor commended Ghana for its political stability and strong democracy, stating that these factors have made the country highly attractive for investment and trade.

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, expressed gratitude to the Turkish government for strengthening and sustaining good relations between Ghana and Turkey over the years.

She also called for the enhancement of new economic cooperation in trade and investment between Turkey and the Ahafo Region for mutual benefit.
