Member of Parliament for Ellembelle Constituency, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has dared the Akufo-Addo-led administration to do away with the Karpower and Ameri plants that were established under former president Mahama if the NPP claim they don’t make use of it.

Foreseeing the country to be engulfed in darkness, Mr Buah stated that “today, we are challenging Nana Addo and his government, turn off John Mahama’s Karpower and let’s see where this country will be.”

“Turn off John Mahama’s Ameri plant today if you don’t need it,” the MP made the call in Parliament Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

Explaining his point, Kofi Buah made known that the erstwhile Mahama administration invested over 2.2 billion US dollars into the energy sector for Ghanaians to reap its benefits in future.

Mr Buah noted that Ghana is currently making over 300 million dollars annually on the imports of crude oil due to the foundation the NDC laid when they were in power.

He also said the country is surviving on Mahama’s ENI project for light after the shutdown of Ghana Gas.

The MP alleged that the upstream industry was transformed under the NDC with a very effective oil drilling and production.
