US government training Ghana EXPO 2004 participants

Accra, Aug. 20, GNA - The United States Government is providing participants to the forthcoming Ghana EXPO 2004 with training that would enhance their participation in the event and assist West African Countries to maximise their export opportunities.

The training, being conducted by West African Trade Hub, a US Agency is also to help the participating countries to have a positive presentation of their products and services ahead of their arrival in Atlanta in September this year.

Briefing Journalists at a media encounter in Accra on Friday, Mr Kwame Owusu-Afriyie, Chief Executive of EXPO Africa, organisers of the event, said topics discussed included "US Market, Selection of Goods for US market"; "Preparing for a Trade Show and US Custom Regulations" and "Post Ghana EXPO 2004 Follow up Issues".

He indicated that two workshops are scheduled for Accra and Kumasi on August 24 and August 27.

On visa applications, he said, the issue was receiving attention after which organisers would move for preparations for departure. Mr William Dowokpor, the National Coordinator, said: "So far, everything has worked out well and we look forward to a rewarding Ghana EXPO 2004."

The Ghana EXPO 2004, a trade and investment exhibition and conference is expected to generate millions of dollars in business and investment for participating companies. It promises a global market place with over 500 businesses exhibiting and International Business Seminar by leaders in business and government.

A major side attraction is a gala Awards Dinner to be hosted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu to honour African and Americans, who have contributed to building economic, political and cultural bridges between Africa and America. 20 Aug. 04
