UT Properties Limited, a real estate development and management company, has signed a Facilities Management (FM) contract with technology giant Huawei.

The FM agreement will see UT Properties manage the ICT-company’s offices in the Adwoa Adjeiwaa Building, located on Oxford Street in Osu, Accra.

In an interview with UT Properties, the Head of Facilities Management Mrs. Aba Asante Koranchie said: “Facility Management is a Key Service industry that encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology.

“As part of the agreement, we are to provide top-notch janitorial cleaning services and disinfestations at Huawei’s offices within the Adwoa Adjeiwaa Building and the company’s residential facilities within Accra. We are also in charge of landlord relationship management and general office maintenance.”

UT Properties is also responsible for managing the company’s generator-set, DSTV, Internet facilities, front desk management and other related services.

Signing this agreement comes at a time when concerns are being raised about how prepared the country is to play host to the increasing number of multi-national firms setting up offices here in Ghana.

Poor maintenance culture has been mentioned as one of the major causes of the ruined edifices that used to adorn the capital city.

However, Mr. Kojo Kwakye Owusu -- the Managing Director of UT Properties, was optimistic that with a firm understanding of the role of facilities management, UT Properties Limited has developed enough expertise and resources to deliver world-class facilities management services.

He said that UT Properties offers facilities management services to a number of banks and their branches throughout the country; as well as multi-national energy companies, international pharmaceuticals, telecoms, foreign missions, and industries.

On signing the contract with Huawei, Mr. Owusu was confident that UT Properties as an indigenous Ghanaian company is well-placed to deliver world-class services to their corporate clients and individuals.

Huawei is a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider. Its cutting-edge technology in telecom works, mobile devices and cloud computing is widely used by over 140 countries. It serves more than one-third of the world’s population.

UT Properties is a wholly indigenous-owned subsidiary of UT Holdings Limited, specialised in real estate development and management.

It is an independent firm of Property Valuers, Property Managers, Property Developers, Leasing Consultants and Property Investment Analysts with multiple years of experience in advising the UT Group of companies and clients on property-related issues.

Currently, UT Properties Limited has a growing staff strength of 32 operating and supported by UT Holdings. It currently manages various properties for companies -- retail outlets, banks, corporate offices, and real estate -- in the capital, Accra, and in Kumasi.

The company recently signed an agency agreement with Prabon Greenfields as sales representative for its up-scale residential development in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
