In the early 1960s, Ghana's economy was thriving, dynamic, and continued to play a significant role in international trade, particularly in exports.

The country held a favorable position compared to some of its peers on the continent due to its local production of tiles, paints, boats, alcoholic beverages, and other goods.

This position was further solidified in 1968 when the Ghana State Footwear Corporation received a substantial order for 300,000 pairs of shoes from a firm in Holland.

The firm was impressed by Ghana's excellence in footwear production.

The order from the Dutch also boosted Ghana's local production capabilities and contributed to industrial development, aligning with the government's broader initiative.

During this period, the Ghana State Footwear Corporation played a crucial role in manufacturing footwear domestically to decrease reliance on imports and enhance Ghana's industrial capacity.

A video showcasing the factory workers' operations has surfaced online, with some social media users commending Ghana's industrial prowess at that time.

The footage depicted the various production lines at the factory, with energetic young workers efficiently fulfilling their duties.
