The Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that the Akufo-Addo’s government has arrested the cedi from running and has given the keys to the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

According to him, the ‘arrest’ of the cedi by the government has boosted confidence in businesses and investors.

He indicated that the government inherited a very difficult economic situation citing decline in agriculture, real GDP, industry, accumulation of arrears among others.

“The cedi has appreciated in value, essentially we have arrested it from running and the IGP has the key he has locked it up. We want to make sure we pursue sound policies. Inflation has come down. This is the achievement and with that you have a lot more confidence in the economy and you see stability return to the currency,” he jokingly said.

Touching on the government’s first 100 days in office during Joy FM’s town hall meeting on Monday, he remarked that the NPP has made 103 achievements.

‘Thankfully by the grace of God we have been able to accomplish what many people thought was impossible. Notwithstanding that however, the government under the leadership of what I can say is our workaholic President, he has been working so hard, he puts us all to work… We can point to some significant achievements in these last 1oo days. Specifically, I’m going to mention 103 achievements of this government in these last 100 days,’ he said.
