A development economist, Dr. Frank Bannor, has said Ghana needs the Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s digitalisation drive to catch up with the rest of the world.

According to him, the world as it is now is moving into an era of digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, and as such, Ghana’s economy can only compete favourably on the global stage if electorates vote Dr Bawumia to implement his vision concerning digitalising the Ghanaian economy.

“For Ghana’s economy to be able to compete favourable with the rest of the world, we need Bawumia’s digitalization. We can only move into the next stage of our development with the kind of vision being espoused by Vice President Bawumia,” Dr Bannor said, a report by asaaseradio.com has said.

Dr Bannor, who doubles as the Head of Research at the Danquah Institute, cautioned Ghanaians against electing a leader who isn’t poised on digitalising the Ghanaian economy.

He said he believes that without digitalisation, there’s no economy in this modern world.

He explained, “Artificial Intelligence and digitalisation drive the world today. Cutlasses and hoes leaders are relics of the past. Without digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, there is no economy today. This is why we must all support Dr Bawumia and his vision of digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence.

“We have since gone past brick and mortar leadership. The world has moved 15 years ahead of bricks and mortar. We cannot play catch-up with a leader whose ideas are old-fashioned, a Stone Age leader cannot help the country in its digitalisation agenda. We need Bawumia to take us to the world of digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence.”
