The newly sworn-in Board Chairman of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Torgbui Nyonyo has assured that the authority will work to improve its revenue generation.

According to him, the authority has the capacity to enhance its operations to block all revenue leakages in the system.

Torgbui Nyonyo said this to Citi Business News after the inauguration of the Board of Directors of the NLA at the Ministry of Finance.

“My administration will ensure that transparent policies are brought to bear by the management team on their day to day performance of the NLA.

By the adherence of transparent policies, we shall increase the revenue generation and contribute our quota to the needed developmental goals of the country, according to the NLA ACT,” he said.

Torgbui Nyonyo explained that the policies will be anchored on consensus building among all stakeholders before a decision is reached.

“There is a need for us to learn the best practices from the developed countries that have used the lottery industry to develop their countries. My Board Members and I will diligently work to extend the industry to the door steps of the people of Ghana,” he noted.

He assured that the board will ensure that the NLA realizes its full potential .

“We will do this through the mandate given to the authority in the 1960 Lotto and Betting(Act 94) and National Lotto Act, 2006(Act 722) to be the integral part of the revenue generation to contribute to the national development,” he stressed.

He stated that the board, with the help of management will ensure that NLA gains the needed international recognition and strike acquaintances both domestically and with overseas organizations.

Torgbui Nyonyo maintained that the board will work within the remit of the laws governing the NLA and other laws relevant in the country.

The board was inaugurated by a Deputy Minister for Finance, Kwaku Kwarteng.
