West African Accountant-Gens and Auditor-Gens to meet

Accra, Aug. 5, GNA - The Second Session of the Forum of Accountant - Generals and Auditor - Generals of West Africa would be held in Accra from August 10 to August 12.

0 A statement signed by Mr Christian T. Sottie, Controller and Accountant - General, said the Forum would be on the theme: "Poverty Reduction Strategies in West Africa - The Role of Accountant - Generals and Auditor - Generals."

The statement said participants were expected from Nigeria; Ghana; Cote d'Ivoire; Sierra Leone; Benin; Togo; Liberia; The Gambia; Mali; Senegal; Niger; Burkina Faso; Guinea; Cape Verde and Guinea Bissau. President John Agyekum Kufuor is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the official opening ceremony of the forum, the statement said.

The World Bank representative in Ghana would present a paper on: "Meeting the Millennium Development Goals - The NEPAD Initiative and the Role of Accountant Generals".

Nana Professor Ato Ghartey, Former Controller and Accountant General, would present a paper on: "International Accounting and Auditing Standards for Public Sector: Recent Development and Impact in the West African Sub-Region."
