Work on connecting transmission lines to power barge begins

Work has begun on connecting power from the Turkey-made 225-megawatt barge to the national grid, our correspondent reports.

The power barge berthed at the Tema Harbour last weekend and on Wednesday, December 2, engineers were seen connecting transmission lines to it.

TV3's Josephine Frempong reported that work is progressing steadily and has even advanced.

After completion, the barge is expected to be commissioned by President John Dramani Mahama.

It is expected to improve the energy crisis of the country for the next 10 years it will be on the shores of Ghana.

It is one of two barges agreed to be built by Karadeniz Powership for Ghana.
