Worn out currency notes create problem at Techiman

Techiman (B/A) Sept. 23, GNA - Trading activities, business transactions and provision of services with worn-out currency notes have been the source of daily quarrels and misunderstandings between traders, customers, drivers and passengers within the Techiman Municipality.

Residents have therefore, appealed to the Central Bank to provide more 1000 and 2000 cedis denominations in coins to help bring sanity in economic activities within the Municipality.

Mr. John Asamani, Tanoso Sub-district Environmental Health Officer speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Techiman said most of the 1000 and 2000 cedis notes had deteriorated to the extent that it created quarrels and misunderstanding over business transactions and rendering of services.

He observed that the situation had caused increases in prices of foodstuffs and appealed to Ghanaians to handle the curreny notes with care.
