The Minister of Communications, Digitalisation, and Innovation-designate, Samuel Nartey George, has pledged to oversee a proper re-registration of SIM cards if he is confirmed in his role.

During his vetting by the Appointments Committee on Thursday, January 30, Sam George highlighted plans to streamline the process to eliminate the long queues seen in previous exercises.

“We will do a proper SIM re-registration again, and this time, there will be no queues because common sense will prevail, and we will use technology to do it,” he stated.

He critiqued past methods, promising a more logical and seamless approach this time around.

The Member of Parliament of Ningo Prampram emphasised that this re-registration would serve the best interests of Ghanaians by ensuring secure and dependable telecom services.

By employing digital solutions, the nominee stressed that he aims to make the process convenient for all, while enhancing national security and countering fraud.

He assured the committee that under his stewardship, the ministry would focus on efficiency and innovation in digital initiatives, including SIM card registration, to build a more effective and inclusive telecommunications infrastructure.
