Greater Accra Rugby Association holds forum

Accra, Feb. 25, GNA - The Greater Accra Region Rugby Association (GARA) has held a one day forum for its stakeholders as part of efforts to chart the way forward for the Association.

The forum was attended by Executives of GARA, members of the national association, club owners, coaches, players and the media, with the impendin= g Greater Accra Rugby League as a major point for discussion. Also on board for discussion were international assignments and participation in the national team, as well as the welfare of players. The forum provided stakeholders the opportunity to express their views on all issues affecting the Association and its activities.

Frank Boahene, Chairman of GARA described the forum as a fruitful exercise because it created the platform for freedom of expression. He added that it was a significant event and the first in the history of the Association.

Boahene noted that his outfit has taken note of the views of the various stakeholders and the appropriate measures will be taken to address themin due course.

He said some of the issues that cannot be addressed by the Regional Association will be directed to the National Association for attention and redress.

The GARA Chairman said regular forums will be organized in the course of the year to interact with stakeholders as part of efforts to develop and promote the sport in the country. 25 Feb. 2011
