The Magistrates’ Court in Akyem Oda has sentenced 11 out of 13 people to a fine of GH¢1,200 each or in default serve a three-month jail term with hard labour.
Those convicted were arrested for impersonating some students at the PLACID International School during this year’s West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The 11 convicts include nine university students and two senior high school students.
Acting Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Francis Gomado, said the suspects were convicted on their own plea.
He told Accra-based Joy FM that: “I can confirm to you that all the fines were paid but another man from the school and the proprietor pleaded not guilty, so their cases have been adjourned to 8 May 2018”.
Meanwhile, the West African Examination Council has banned the eleven people from writing any exams for the next six years.
