Twelve (12) Nigerians were on Friday dawn arrested by the police at Weija a suburb of Accra for keeping hostage a 20-year-old lady (name withheld).
The suspects who all live in the same apartment close to Weija STC were arrested after father of the victim lodged a complaint with the police after she went missing and whereabouts unknown only to start receiving messages from the suspects.
Police investigators gave the names of the suspects as Ose Winner, Oladide Ola Promise, Algbe Joseph, Edogiawerie Aisosa, Osazee Benjamin, Elis Imasuen, Emmanuel Daniel, John Miracle, Emulankpa Godwin, Osaro Kelvin, Oso Kenny and Oghneyerhowa Nelson.
According to the victim, she was also sexually molested by one of them who through social media lured her to the location under the guise of dating her where her movement was restricted thereafter.
Sources at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) reveal that all 12 do not possess the requisite documents to be in the country and were also suspected to be engaged in cyber fraud.
They are set to be arraigned before court on Tuesday August 6, 2019 while the Ghana Immigration Service has since been notified in order to repatriate them.
The arrest of the 12 come at a time Ghanaians are still searching for the whereabouts of Ruth Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie believed to have been kidnapped between August 2018 and January 2019 and have since not been found.
Chief mastermind of the act, Samuel Udoetuk-Wills a Nigerian was jailed recently but is still facing other charges before Takoradi Magistrate Court after he escaped from jail in December 2018 following his first arrest.
