Two girls have been arrested by police in the Jirapa District of the Upper West Region for plucking shea nuts at the residence of a judge.
The two teenagers are being accused by the police of unlawfully plucking the wild fruit close to the home of the judge leading to their arrest.
They have since been cautioned and granted and granted bail.
ASP Daniel Nettey the Jirapa District Police Commander revealed that while they plucking the sheanuts, they were warned by the judge to stop the act because he’d packed his car under the tree.
He added that the girls then left but later came back to continue with their activity following which the judge questioned them over why they returned and invited in the police.
“In the event the girls were rude to the magistrate, so he called the policeman to arrest them and bring them to the police station. When they were brought, I just instructed that they should caution them and release them; that very evening they were granted bail, I’m yet to go into the case and see the appropriate charge that can preferred against them
