The 24-year-old washing bay attendant who allegedly murdered his 18-year-old lover at Nkawkaw Krofofrom, Kwaku Siaw, has been remanded into police custody by the Mpraeso Circuit Court.

The court, presided over by Her Ladyship Adwoa Akyemaa, remanded the suspect after he admitted in his caution statement to committing the crime due to suspicions that the deceased was having an affair with another man, according to a report on citinewsroom.com.

Kwaku Siaw is accused of slitting the throat of his lactating girlfriend.

When asked of the whereabouts of his lover, the suspect reportedly informed his parents that she had travelled to her parents’ house. However, the cries of her baby raised suspicions and prompted further questions, which led to Siaw fleeing the scene.

Siaw was arrested on Thursday, August 15, 20204, at his hideout in Akyem Asante Juaso after he called his father, informing him of his location.

He is expected to reappear in court on September 4, 2024.

On August 14, 2024, the father of Kwaku Siaw disclosed to the media that his son and his lover used to fight a lot.

Expressing shock over the incident, he stated that his son never exhibited any signs or behaviours indicating he was unhappy with his partner to the extent of taking her life.

“We all sat together and ate yesterday. At dawn, I left the house to attend to my farm. Because there is no network coverage in the farm, I wasn’t able to receive calls. So, on my way back from the farm, I received a disturbing call that my son had murdered his wife and I rushed to the house.

“To be frank, they fought a lot but on the day of the incident, nothing showed they had fought or had a quarrel,” he narrated.
