The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested and arraigned before court 3 Nigerian women for allegedly trafficking women.
The three have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime.
Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command, ASP Ebenezer Tettey in an interview with CITI FM news narrated that, the alleged traffickers lured the victims into the country with a promise of offering them juicy jobs.
He said the victims were forced into prostitution upon their arrival into the country from Nigeria.
On the 26th of November last year, the women conveyed the victims from Nigeria to Ghana with a promise of getting them lucrative jobs to do. On arrival they were told never to think of doing anything different from prostitution.
However their type of prostitution was to go on their own soliciting for sex, but would have to give the income earned for the day to their employers.
They were on top of the prostitution abused and tortured with all kinds of weapons in view of making the required daily sales.
The victims met a Good Samaritan from the Tamale Metropolis who led them to the police station after they told her their plight.
ASP Tettey added that, his office gave them medical forms to go for a check-up after their complaints were lodged. So the suspects based on this medical report were arrested but husband to one of the victims took to his heels upon seeing the police.
Investigations are still on-going.
