Pakyi District Court in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, Ashanti Region, has remanded 32-year-old Kofi Asamoah for allegedly killing 17-year-old JHS graduate, Daniel Ofosuhene.

The suspect, also known as Castro, will reappear in court on Tuesday, August 30, 2024.

Daniel Ofosuhene, who recently completed JHS, was stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors by the suspect while trying to separate a fight between two lovers.

The tragic incident occurred at Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the victim’s residence around 8 p.m.

The prosecutor, ASP Samuel Mensah, informed the court, presided over by Her Worship Dora Nsiah Jackson, that the fight involved 17-year-old Juliana Asamoah and her ex-boyfriend, Kofi Asamoah.

Presenting the facts to the court, ASP Samuel Mensah explained that Juliana Asamoah’s new boyfriend, Kofi, who is in Accra, accused Castro of stealing his items after breaking into his room.

"Juliana then confronted Castro over the phone, accusing him of the theft. This confrontation enraged Castro, prompting him to go to Juliana’s house that night," ASP Mensah added.

“Castro, in a fit of rage, visited the girl’s house to address the accusation, but upon finding that Kofi (Juliana's new boyfriend) was not present, he attempted to take a mobile phone from the girl, resulting in a physical altercation,” he stated.

"ASP Samuel Mensah further explained that the deceased, Daniel Ofosuhene, a friend of Juliana, and another boy intervened to separate the fight. In response, Castro, angered by their interference, pulled out a pair of scissors and stabbed Daniel Ofosuhene in the chest."

He continued: "Castro also stabbed the other boy in the thigh. Upon realizing that Daniel Ofosuhene had collapsed and was bleeding, he fled the scene but was apprehended by residents and handed over to the police."

"Daniel Ofosuhene was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival."
