A 45-year-old driver who threatened to kill a staff of the Nkawie Forest Services Division (FSD) of the Forestry Commission (FC), has been fined GH? 960.00, by the Nkawie Circuit Court.

Yaw Agyei was said to have threatened to kill Ms. Rose Adwoa Gyawu Amankwaa, a monitoring officer of the FSD at Nkawie who questioned him on where he got the truckload of lumber that he was off-loading at a sawmill at Mpasatia, in the Atwima-Mponua District.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of threat and was convicted on his own plea. He would serve two years in prison if he failed to pay the fine.

He was also bonded to be of good behaviour for two years or serve another two-year jail term in default of the bond.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Ruth Gborson told the Court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abey, that on April 24 this year, the complainant was on her usual duties with the monitoring team of the District’s FSD at Mpasatia.

She said the team saw the convict together with other people off-loading a truckload of lumber at a sawmill in the town.

Inspector Gborson said upon seeing the monitoring team, the others took to their heels, leaving the convict, who threatened to kill the complainant if she dares touch the lumber.

She said the complainant asked the convict to load the lumber back into the truck but he became offended, took a metal bar and threatened to hit her with it.

The prosecution said the complainant left the scene and reported the matter to the Nkawie Police, who then arrested him.

She said after further investigations he was charged with the offence.
