Kumasi, May 26, GNA- A circuit court at Kumasi granted a 10-million-cedi bail with surety to justify to a 63-year-old farmer charged for fraud.
Akuamoah Boateng, a citizen from Essienimpong in the Ejisu-Juaben district, pleaded guilty to the charge and will re-appear on June 8. Police Inspector Nana Yaw Amofa told the court presided over by Mr Essel Mensah that on April 8 this year, the complainant, Rebecca Nyamekye, a former student of the OLA Training College at Cape Coast met Boateng after purchasing nurses training college application forms from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
The prosecutor said Boateng introduced himself to the complainant as a retired officer of KATH who had helped many applicants to gain admission into nurses training colleges.
Insp Amofa said the accused took the application form and four passport size photographs and an amount of 3.080 million cedis form Nyamekye after persuading her that he could help her gain admission into a nurses training college.
Boateng went into hiding till May 19 when he was spotted and arrested by the police.
