A Kumasi Circuit Court has granted a bail sum of GH¢10, 000.00 with two sureties to a 50 year old sales clerk for allegedly stealing from his employer.
Samuel Twum pleaded guilty with explanation and is to reappear before the court on October 21, 2015.
Giving the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Felix Akowuah told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Ansah, that the complainant is a spare parts dealer residing at Tafo Nhyaeso, while the accused resides at Fante New Town, Kumasi.
He said on August 21, 2015 one of the customers of the complainant who had bought an engine worth GH¢ 5,000.00 on credit, paid it by cheque to be redrawn from Ahafoano Rural Bank at Suame Magazine Branch of Old Tafo.
A witness in this case, who is the supervisor, received the cheque and gave it to Twum and instructed him to withdraw the money and deposit it into the business account with Uni-Bank at Old Tafo.
Twum withdrew the money and absconded with it.
Chief Inspector Akowuah said a report was made to the Police which led to the arrest of Twum at his hideout.
Twum in his caution statement admitted the offence and stated that he used GH¢25,000.00 to pay for his son’s fees into the medical school.
Sadly, he could not produce the part of the amount he claimed not to have used.
Twum pleaded with court to pardon him.
