Accountant's room raided and four million cedis stolen

Mampong(Ash), Dec.1, GNA - Thieves on Wednesday broke into the room of Mr. Duah Gyan, accountant of the Sekyere West District Assembly and stole four million cedis.

They raided the room on mid-morning forcibly opened his bedroom and stole the money.

Narrating the incident to the Ghana News Agency at Asante-Mampong, Mr Gyan said he left home at about 0830 hours and at about 1100 hours a colleague informed him that thieves had broken into his room. Mr. Gyan said he informed the District Chief Executive, Mr Haruna Oppong-Boateng and the District Finance Officer, who advised him to report the incident to the Mampong police.

In an interview, the Mampong Divisional Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Arzan, said the police were investigating the incident.

Mr. Arzan said as the year ends stealing and petty crime would be common and advised the residents to be alert, and report people of suspicious characters to the police.
