Accused granted bail

A Hohoe circuit court has granted bail to Wisdom Agbakpe, farmer, in the sum of GH? 5,000 with a surety for dishonestly receiving, resisting arrest and assault on public officer.

Agbakpe, who pleaded not guilty, will reappear on September 17.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ben Dadzie told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel K. Solomon that one Mr. Dickson Asante, a Fire Officer, was burgled and items including electrical appliances, a bicycle and mobile phones were stolen October 12, 2010.

Mr. Asante spotted one Simon Dzamesi riding the stolen bicycle at Ve-Golokwati Police barrier and caused his arrest.

Other suspects including Agbakpe and one Groady were arrested in connection with the theft but Groady absconded together with his surety.

He said Agbakpe was spotted in front of the Hohoe Police station but resisted arrest.
