Awutu (C/R), March 19, GNA - The Awutu Magistrate Court on Wednesday, slapped a GH¢1,000 fine on an ex-convict charged with unlawful entry and stealing his employer's items worth GH¢800. The ex-convict, Michael Agbenyagah, pleaded guilty to the charge and accordingly was given the fine by the court presided over by Mr Kofi Ahiabour. In default of the fine, he would go to prison for 12 months. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Helena Aidoo, told the court that, the accused was release from prison on a similar offence but with the hope that he had been reformed. She said prison officer, Inspector Ephraim Lamptey, latter helped Agbenyagah and took him to an employer friend to be given some skills in trade after. Chief Inspector Aidoo said, after five years, the employer, detected that some of his goods such as a gear box, starter, bunch of keys and water pumping machine were vanished. She said, the accused bolted but on February 14, this year, Agbenyegah was spotted with the pumping machine, when confronted he admitted having stolen the items and was arrested.
