Security analyst Adib Saani has commended the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, for swiftly preventing what could have escalated into a national disaster in Kpandai.

The consultant stated that an alleged robbery attack on a resident by two individuals suspected to be Fulanis spurred further attacks in the region, which could have resulted in several deaths if not for the IGP's prompt action.

Speaking in an interview on "Frontline" on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr. Saani mentioned that he received a distress call from the area, informing him of the rising tension.

Following the alleged robbery attack, the house of the Fulani Chief was attacked and set ablaze by irate youths.

Saani narrated that a Kpandai resident, while on his motorcycle, was attacked, robbed, and left with multiple knife wounds.

The assailants allegedly fled after the attack. In a reprisal attack, irate youths stormed the residence of the Fulani chief with the intention of attacking him. However, he managed to escape to a nearby police station.

A 90-year-old man and a minor were trapped in the house after the rest of the occupants fled, leaving them behind.

The IGP, according to Saani, quickly coordinated and deployed officers to the scene to prevent further attacks. A suspect was later arrested and taken into police custody.

However, the enraged residents were not appeased and proceeded to attack the police station, throwing stones at the officers. Saani stated that the police had no choice but to release the suspect, as keeping him in custody would have escalated the situation.

Subsequently, the Kpandai youth went on a rampage, attacking Fulanis in the area. It took the intervention of military and police reinforcements to restore law and order.

Saani concluded that, but for the timely intervention of the IGP in coordinating and deploying personnel to the scene, a national disaster could have unfolded.
