Accra, Sept. 21, GNA 96 One-armed man on Thursday stole a sharp flip mobile phone from the Ghana News Agency Newsroom, when he accompanied Ms Mary Ann Lange, a white lady, who claimed to be working for German media organisation, to seek information.
The one armed man amputated in the left arm, who pretended to be assisting the White Lady Journalist, stole the mobile phone belonging to Mrs Emily Nyarko, a Senior Reporter.
The two were taken to the Agency's Newsroom by a security man to enquire about a seminar held two days ago on reporting in Africa. In the absence of the News Editor, Mrs Nyarko attended to the Amputee and Ms Lange. After attending to them, the two were asked to follow the security man to the Agency's Business Development Department for further information that they required.
Mrs Nyarko noticed a few minutes after they had left that her mobile phone was missing and rushed to the Business Development Department to enquire about her phone only to be told that the Amputee, who introduced himself as a Journalist from City FM in Kumasi, had disappeared while the White Lady was still in the Business Department of the Agency.
Ms Lange told Journalists, who had gathered at the Business Development Department, that she only met the Amputee at the British Council when she went there to make enquiries about the programme. She said the Amputee introduced himself as a Journalist and offered to assist her with the information she was looking for and thus accompanied her to the GNA.
The security men at the Agency's gate said the Amputee had asked them to inform Ms Lange that he was going to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and that he would be back at 1300 hours. The case has been reported to the Ministries Police, who have appealed to the general public to assist in arresting the Amputee, who did not give his name, but is reported to be parading at various functions as a journalist.
