Begoro, Oct. 3, GNA - A 26-year-old farmer, Kwame Kitiwa, has been sentenced by the Begoro District Magistrate Court to 12 months imprisonment for stealing two bicycles. He pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector William Kwasi Nkrumah, told the court, presided over by Mr Robert Djan that, on August 20, this year, the first complainant, Mr. Eric Okwaning, parked his bicycle by the Begoro-Obuoho road and went to his tomatoes farm.
He said When Okwaning returned from his farm, he could not find his bicycle at the place where he parked it. He said the next day, Okwaning saw the suspect riding a defaced bicycle, which resemble his.
Police Chief Inspector Nkrumah said when Okwaning confronted the suspect, he confessed stealing the bicycle and said one Richard Agyapong, the second complainant gave him the parts to use to disguise it.
He said when Agyapong was contacted he denied any knowledge of the bicycle and rather detected that, the bicycle parts which were used to disguise the one stolen from Okwaning was parts of his stolen bicycle. Chief Inspector Nkrumah said the suspect then admitted that, he stole Agyapong's bicycle with the intention of exchanging the parts to disguise them.
