A block layer, David Kobla Dzata who sexually abused his co-tenant’s a 10-year-old daughter at Mamprobi was on Thursday sentenced to seven-year imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.

Dzata aged 43, pleaded guilty before the court presided over by Mrs. Rita Abrokwah Doko.

Dzata pleaded for forgiveness after giving a pathetic history of how everything happened at the court.

The court noted that he was a first-time offender and not known to the law and handed down the jail term.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire told the court that the complainant is a driver residing at Mamprobi with his 10-year-old daughter, who is the victim in the case.

The Prosecution said Dzata, is a co-tenant of the complainant who occasionally sends the victim on errands.

Prosecution said during 2018, Dzata lured the victim into his room and had sex with her and after the act, warned the victim not tell anyone else he would kill her.

He said on April 16, this year, the victim went to school and was asked by her tutor to write an essay on the subject “The secret in my life.”

The Prosecution said the victim in the essay narrated the ordeal she had gone through in the hands of the convict.
He said the victim’s school secretary invited the victim’s parents to the school and afterwards a report was made to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Dansoman.

He said Dzata was arrested thereafter, whilst the Police issued the victim with a medical report form to seek medical care at any state hospital.
