Boy, 15, drowns in River Rapamola

Master Simon Asiedu Acquah, a fifteen year-old boy got drowned in the Rapaloma River at Essamang Kakraba in the Tarkwa Nsueam Municipality in the late hours on Wednesday.

The deceased, who was the boy’s prefect and a primary six pupil of New Atuabo Anglican primary school met his untimely death when he went to the River side with his friends to wash down.

The body has since been deposited at the Tarkwa Government Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The acting Tarkwa district Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Robert Kobil, disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Tarkwa on Thursday.

He said Simon lived with his mother Amina Sule at Esaamang Kakraba and when he closed from school on Wednesday, he went home and changed his dress and together with some friends proceeded to the Rapaloma River to wash down but he got drowned around 1736 hours.

The acting Tarkwa district Police Commander said residents living around the River informed the police and when they arrived at the scene, some members of the community had already organized a search party to retrieve the body.

Superintendent Kobil said although, there were no physical marks on the body, the police have started an investigation into the incident.
