Clearing agent and four others granted bail for diverting rice.

Tema, Feb.7, GNA - The Tema Circuit Court 'A' has slapped 400 million cedis bail on five persons, with who one surety each, for allegedly diverting 1,840 bags of perfumed rice valued at 506 million cedis from the Tema Harbour.

Osei Yaw, Alima Yaro, Francisca Onyame, Joseph Onyame and Mrs Twum Barima who pleaded not guilty, would reappear on February 14, 2005. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Robert Aganiba, told the Court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu, that the four connived to divert the rice consignment meant for a warehouse at Okaishie Accra.

Police investigations led to the discovery of 1,000 bags of the rice, in a store belonging to one Nana Twum Barima, Sanaahene of Kyebi Traditional Council and his wife, Mrs Twum Barima.
