Ho, Feb 1, GNA - Francis Dunyo, 29, and his pregnant wife Rejoice Sakpaku were attacked by gunmen in the early hours of last Tuesday at the outskirts of Bame, near Kpeve and their Astra saloon car bearing registration number GT 24 U, seized.
Police reports said the two who had set off from Kete-Krachi on their way to Mafi-Kumasi in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, where flagged down by a man at the road side who feigned serious illness.
Joy Afagbedzi, Inspector of Police in charge of Public Relations at the Volta Regional Police Headquarters, said while the two good Samaritans were talking to the supposed sick person, three other men, armed with locally made pistols emerged to attack them. He said the armed men pulled Mr Dunyo and his wife out of their car, tied Mr Dunyo with a twine, dumped him in the boot of the car and drove off.
Mr Afagbedzi said the robbers seized Dunyo's wife's cell phone before driving off leaving her in the middle of the road. He said the armed men dumped Mr Dunyo somewhere on the road, who later managed to get back to his wife. The vehicle has still not been traced.
