Court bonds farmer for abducting teenage girl

Twifo Praso (C/R), June 3, GNA- The Twifo Praso Magistrate Court, has bonded Stephen Danquah, a citrus farmer, to be of good behaviour for 24 months for abducting a 14-year old girl from Abura a suburb of Cape Coast.

Danquah, who pleaded guilty, would be jailed for six months in default.

The presiding magistrate, Mr Joseph Blay, also ordered Danquah to pay a compensation of 500,000 cedis to the victim, or in default go to jail for another three months.

The prosecution said one Mr George Mensah, a timber-truck driver found the victim loitering at a fuel filling station in Twifo-Praso at an odd hour on May 5 this year, and sent her to the local Police Station.

He said the victim told the police that Danquah, found her standing by the roadside at Abura, and asked her to accompany him to Twifo- Praso to help him harvest his oranges.

She said Danquah attempted to have sex with the girl and when she refused, he sacked her from his house.

The accused however denied attempting to have sex with the girl, explaining that he rather gave the girl the permission to go to town but she never returned.
