The Martin Mogrey, 38 and Abdul Mumin, 28, the miners and Sulley were fined Ghc720 for encroachment on their own plea.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr Justice Obeng Asante that the complainants are security officers of Goldfields Ghana Limited Tarkwa mine.

Chief Inspector Amponsah said about 11.30 p.m. on November 28, the security officers were on their normal patrol duty when they saw the convicts with empty sacks and a shovel at the "North phase one heap leach area".

Passing sentence, Mr Justice Asante said the shovel should be given to the Ghana Police Service in Tarkwa to be use in clean-up exercises.
