Cape Coast, June 8, GNA - Two persons were on Wednesday fined a total of two million cedis by a circuit court at Cape Coast for various traffic offences. Joseph Abrokwa 30 and Fanny Acquah 26, both pleaded guilty to giving a vehicle to an unlicensed driver and driving without a license and negligently causing harm respectively.
They were fined 500,000 and 1.5 million cedis and would go to prison for six and eight months respectively if they fail to pay the fines.
Prosecuting, chief inspector Oheneba Amoako-Boateng, told the court that on November 14, 2003 Abrokwa who was driving a Hyundai taxi cab in Cape Coast, gave the vehicle to Fanny who does not have a driving license, to drive. He said in the process, he lost control of the vehicle, and knocked down one Kofi Afosi who sustained injuries and was rushed to the regional hospital, and a report was later made to the police.
