Assin Foso (C/R), Aug. 13, GNA - Kwame Kwantwi, unemployed of Nankomase Ahenkro who broke into the store room of a filling station at Assin akropong and made away of a glass measuring jar valued at GH¢300 was on Tuesday sentenced to nine months in jail by Assin Foso Magistrates' Court.
The court, presided over by Mr Joseph Blay also ordered the convict to pay back the amount to complainant after serving the sentence. Kwantwi pleaded guilty to the three counts of unlawful entry, stealing and causing unlawful damage and was convicted on his own plea. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kwame Preko told the court that on July 9, Kwantwi broke into complainant, Abukarim Sulemana's filling station and stole the glass measuring jar for measuring petroleum products.
Inspector Preko said the Kwantwi was spotted by some people at Assin Brefoyedur carrying the item and when he was challenged, he threw it away and took to his heels. The glass jar got damaged. The prosecution said he was arrested by a group of young men and handed over to the police and after investigations, he was charged with the offence.
