Court jails tailor 15 years for defilement

Cape Coast, April 1, GNA, Drama unfolded at the Cape Coast Circuit Court when Yaw Haruna a 22 year -old tailor, went on his knees and pleaded with the court to deal leniently with him for defiling a 10 year- old girl.

Haruna, who was making his fourth appearance before the court also changed his plea to guilty.

Mr Mustapha Logoh, the presiding Judge however sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment.

Prosecuting, Chief inspector Ruben Dzogbeti told the Court that at about 2100 hours on February 1, this year Haruna lured the girl to a cocoa farm and sexually abused her.

Chief inspector Dzogbeti, said the victim left the scene crying and went home to inform her sister in-law, who in turn informed the Police, leading to the arrest of the accused.

In another development, Stephen Otoo, a 19 year-old JSS pupil, was granted 25 million cedis bail with a two sureties to be justified by a circuit court for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old schoolmate. He pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on April 20.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo, told the court presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah that Otoo lured the girl with money and sexually abused and impregnated her.
