Dzodze (V/R), Feb. 13, GNA - Four Female personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service stationed at Akanu, near Dzodze have been remanded in prison custody by a local Magistrate's Court over the alleged murder of their colleague on last Christmas Day. They are Mavis Serwaa Addai, Matilda Safo-Adu, Rejoice Awadzi and Kate Tamakloe.
Prosper Sedziafa, was found floating in an underground water reservoir located on the compound of their officially rented quarters at Dzodze, near Akanu. Mr Anthony Abebrese, Presiding Magistrate did not take the pleas of th= e suspects and directed that they reappear on February 24. Mr Akwesi Asafo-Agyei, Dzodze District Police Commander told the court that about 0830 hours on December 25 last year, Mavis Addai went to fetch water from the reservoir and raised the alarm when spotted Sedziafa's body floating.
He said the police retrieved the body and sent it the Police Hospital in Accra for autopsy. Mr Asafo-Agyei said an interim report indicated that Sedziafa did not die as a result of drowning, suggesting that he might have been murdered before being dumped in the tank.
He said the report indicated that Sedziafa suffered head injuries and severe cerebral edema.
Mr Asafo said police investigations indicated that the four accused persons were at logger-heads with the deceased. He hinted that a homicide squad from the Police Headquarters was expected in Dzodze soon to help in the investigations.
