An unemployed man, who allegedly drew a pair of scissors to rob a student of her cellular phone is now in the firm grips of the law. Kwaku Atongo has already appeared before a Kumasi Circuit Court and remanded into prison custody to make his next appearance on Tuesday, July 15.
This was after he pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery. Police Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang told the court presided over by Mr William Boampong that the crime was committed on June 29, at Moshie Zongo in Kumasi. The victim, Miss Akua Gyamfuah, was returning to the house at about 2230 hours when Atongo emerged from nowhere, drew a pair of scissors and ordered her to surrender everything she had.
Fearing for her life, she handed over the “Nokia Asha 201” mobile phone valued at GH¢200.00 and he fled with it. The victim, who took a good look at her attacker, had no difficulty identifying him the next morning, when she saw him and caused his arrest.
