Driver fined for jumping red light

Accra, July 21, GNA - A driver who nearly caused an accident after jumping the red light in front of the Ghana Fire Service Headquarters was on Thursday fined 3.5 million cedis by a circuit court in Accra. Yohanes Hogar, whose act nearly caused the accident in the presence of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mrs Elizabeth Mills-Robertson, was charged for jumping the red light.

He pleaded guilty and the court convicted him on his own plea. Hogar would to go to jail for 12 months in default.

The case of the Prosecution as narrated by Inspector A. A. Ahor was that on July 17, Mrs Mills-Robertson was on board a Police vehicle travelling from Ako Adjei Interchange towards the Police Headquarters. Hogar, who was driving a bus, jumped the red light and nearly caused an accident. He was, therefore, arrested.
