An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced Ibrahim Mohammed, a driver, to 10 years imprisonment for abetment of crime to wit robbery.
The convict pleaded not guilty but the court found him guilty after trial.
In sentencing, the court took into consideration, the plea for mitigation by the counsel for the convict, the almost six months spent in custody and also being a fist time offender.
Meanwhile, the items have been retrieved and returned to the complainant.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector K. Adu told the court that the complainant was Awura Akua Ayisi, a fashion designer who lives at Haatso and the convict a driver who resides at Madina and Idi, an accomplice is now at large.
He said on December 15, 2016 at about 08:00 hours, the complainant was standing in front of her house at Haatso when suddenly Ibrahim riding a motorbike with registration number M-16-GR-2535 and Idi, the passenger seating behind pulled up in front of the complainant.
He said Idi got down, pulled out a knife and attacked the complainant and robbed her of her handbag and one I Phone 6 plus, that she was holding valued GH¢ 3,450.00.
He said Ibrahim went to sit on the motorbike and whilst fleeing the scene, the complainant raised an alarm and two witnesses came to her rescue and arrested Ibrahim with the motorbike while Idi manage to escape.
