Driver jailed for stealing iron rods

A circuit court at Akim Swedru has sentenced a driver to three years imprisonment for stealing iron rods.

Samuel Asare pleaded guilty.

Police Inspector Wilberforce Kwaku Appiah, told the court that on June 11 this year, the convict removed the iron rods fixed on an uncompleted building of the complainant, Mr. Isaac Boateng, at Akim Oda.

The prosecution said a witness in the case caught the convict in the act and when Asare was interrogated, he said Mr. Boateng had authorized him to remove the iron rods.

Insp. Appiah said when the witness called Mr. Boateng on phone to ascertain the truth of the matter, he (complainant) denied issuing any such instruction.**
